Transit took delivery of a brand new Sweeper which will be used for cleaning of the warehouses and quay.
The decision to replace the exisiting machine was taken after gaining a three-year contract with Sodracell for woodpulp in December 2007. The new sweeper will allow us to clean large areas of the site quickly whilst ensuring that both inside and outside will be clean, safe and dustfree.
Casting of new floor sections was completed on 17 February.
Improvements to the cladding and lighting are currently underway, and new access ramps have been cast.
We anticipate the expanded storage capacity to be ready for use in mid/late March
Worked started on 12 January 2009 to create more undercover timber storage at Transit Medway.
In a £250,000 investment, the ’old’ shed that nestled underneath our new timber barn is finally being demolished. This will create a single-span warehouse of 75,000 sq ft, capable of storing 12,000 cbm of sawn timber.
When completed, the development will boost Transit’s undercover timber capacity from 8,000 cbm to 17,000 cbm.
